Orlando Martinez, with Adrian’s Barber Shop, along with other barbers, including those from the Dunbar Barber Academy, provides a free haircut during the inaugural Connecting the Community event at Banner-University Medical Center South. As many as 125 people with behavioral-health issues were helped Sunday, said Dr. Bethany Bruzzi, the hospital’s chief medical officer. Banner and sock manufacturer Bombas, which donates a pair of socks to the homeless for every pair it sells, hosted the event. Some $3,000 in donations from the Banner Foundation and Bombas made the event possible, Bruzzi said.
